WHAT IS RYLA?

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for young people and emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth. District 6710’s RYLA is a three-day camp for high school sophomores who show great potential toward leadership, but lack the experience needed to use these skills in their home communities. Our goal is that RYLA participants will go back to their local communities and apply the leadership skills they have gained over the weekend to enrich their community. Many previous RYLA participants have continued their growth, development, and service by starting Interact clubs at their high schools.

It is the intent of the District RYLA committee that we serve young people who will not otherwise have an opportunity for leadership training.  As a result, the District 6710 RYLA will serve young people who meet the following criteria:

  • Participants should be sophomores in high school and be 14-16 years of age.
  • Participants must be transported to the event.  Under no circumstances can a participant drive to the event.
  • Participants must have a 2.5 GPA or greater and have a good attendance and discipline record.
  • Participants should exhibit leadership potential.
  • Relatives of Rotarians are eligible to participate.
  • Participants should reside in District 6710 and be sponsored by a Rotary Club.
